The Gift Poured Out April 19

And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit. At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook, the rocks split and the tombs broke open. Matthew 27:50-52

The moment Jesus died the curtain that separated us from God was torn apart! We now have complete, unhindered access to God through Jesus Christ! Oh that we would open up our hearts completely to God, allowing His beautiful and powerful presence to fill us up to overflowing!

At this moment, right now, I am compelled to ask myself, “Have I been putting up a “curtain of separation” in my heart that is keeping God’s presence from fully moving into all of my heart?” Is there something I am hiding, holding back, or not being obedient in that needs to be given up? Is my heart divided? Let’s pray Psalm 86:11-13 right here.

Teach me your way, Lord, that I may rely on your faithfulness; *give me an undivided heart,* that I may fear your name. I will praise you, Lord my God, with *all my heart;* I will glorify your name forever. For great is your love toward me; *you have delivered me from the depths, from the realm of the dead.

The very moment Jesus died, He “delivered us from the depths, from the realm of the dead.” We don’t have to merely exist with a walled up, divided heart anymore. Because of Jesus’ atoning sacrifice, we are able to invite God’s full, beautiful and powerful presence to move right into our hearts. As He moves in, He tears down the curtains and the walls, shakes up the earth of our hearts, splits up the rock hard places in our hearts, and breaks open the tombs of death that are encasing our hearts. When we allow God’s Presence to be fully unleashed into our hearts, His Holiness will reign. God will make our hearts whole. We can then spend our lives, lifting up our whole hearts to praise our Lord and our God!

Scripture Inspired Prayer

Oh God! I am so very grateful for Jesus! Thank You for dying on the cross so I can live with You forever! Come and show me if I am hiding, holding anything back, or being disobedient in any area of my life. Please come and give me an undivided heart so I can live my life filled to overflowing with Your Presence, bringing glory, honor, and praise to Your Holy Name!
