Step In …. Vision

When asked about the greatest commandment Jesus replied “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”  We rightly spend a lot of time on the first commandment, but what does it look like to spend a lot of time on the second? How would locating our church in the middle of a neighborhood help us live into this second commandment? What is the vision we have to reach into this neighborhood and make an impact in their lives?

A Vision For Children

Children are not only our future, but they are our now!  We have a heart for sharing the love of Jesus with children.  Currently our programs are centered around the limited time we are able to be in our rented facility.  We have a Children’s church during our main worship and on Wednesday night we have programs for children of all ages (Nursery, Tater tots, Kid’s Club)  we also have breakout activity groups (BE Groups) for boys and girls.   Our desire is to greatly expand the possibilities.

Before and After School Programs

We want to serve as a safe encouraging place for kids to come to with before and after school programs.  There they would get a snack and be able to play and do homework until families get home from work.  The need for this is great but many families cannot afford the care.  We have qualified people ready to start this ministry when our building is completed.

Music, Drama, Art, and Camps

Music, drama, and art are increasingly difficult to include in the high pressure testing environment of todays schools.  But what if the church could pick up the slack?  What if there were opportunities in a neighborhood where none exist for low cost piano lessons, music day camps, and plays?  Our vision is to begin to offer these fun and encouraging summer programs.

Play

Toddlers and preschool children need time to play but our winters and spring make it a real challenge for moms and kids.  We want to provide weekly opportunities for moms to bring children to a safe free place with clean toys and let them play while moms encourage each other!

A Vision for Families

We currently have a number of programs that serve families (Wednesday Family Night, Daddy Daughter Ball, Family Fishing Day, Driven Ministries) and we also provide encouragement and training through the Family Institute. The Family Institute  provides marriage enrichment/marriage mentoring, parenting classes, and Financial Peace University.  Once again we find that these programs are currently limited due to facility constraints.  We also see a number of needs that are not currently being served such as; Celebrate Recovery for teens, addiction support for adults and their families.  With the new facility we are excited to expand these opportunities and hope to have the community see Wellspring Fellowship as a place where families can get the encouragement, training, and support they need.

A Vision for Connection

Our vision for our church building is that it would be multipurpose.  It would be a place for everything from zoomba to our main gathering for weekly worship.  We want our neighborhood and community to see it as a place for connection.  As we consider our design both in this initial phase and in future development we are focusing on making the space comfortable, accessible, and available as we seek to meet needs and serve our neighborhood.

This is the outline of the vision we have to share the gospel and impact our neighborhood and community with the love of Jesus Christ.  Will you partner with us to make this vision a reality?  Will you Step In?
